Why I Support These Charities and Causes (And Why You Should Too!)

So I’ve always appreciated the value of charities and charity work in general. I’ve always been a big fan of donating, giving away things I dont need that I know could be helpful for someone else, or just simply helping out where I can when I see people in need in everyday life. As I’ve gotten older, this need for helping others has got stronger and I’ve felt this burning desire to really do more and on a larger scale.

There are so many less fortunate people out there, people who dont even have food to eat or clean drinking water (which honestly makes me cry thinking about how cruel we’ve made this world as humans 😢) and for those of us who don’t live the most perfect lives, but have been blessed (to be born into or who have had the opportunities to obtain) with the necessary basics – it’s our duty to help others and support them!

There are so many charities out there doing amazing work to help those in need and that need more funding and hands on support in order to do what they do best – getting the necessary aid and support to those who really need it. I’ve always supported in different ways but I now want to be more intentional about it, because doing the bare minimum and just “feeling bad” for people just doesn’t cut if I’m being real and honest with myself… and we can all do more.

So I’ve decided to ramp up my efforts in volunteering my time and supporting financially when I can – as well as raising awareness on my little corner of the internet and spreading the word, far and wideeeee – so others (like you 👀) can get involved too. I’ve created a page Charities & Causes I Support – shining a light on the charities causes…. I support 😅. Charities I feel are not just there to rake in money and spend it on paying greedy CEOs or waste the money on rubbish 🙄😤, but ones I truly believe are making a difference. Whether it’s mental health, child protection, homelessness, medical research, or war & crisis support, these organisations are doing life-changing work every single day to make the world a better place.

But let’s be real, they cant do it alone and everything in this life is (sadly) about money. You don’t have to rich, wealthy or give all of your salary to make a difference – a little really does go a long way. You can donate a little when you can, volunteer your time, or just help spread awareness if that’s all you think you can genuinely do for one reason or another, because it’s all so important.

And if you’re thinking, “Well sorry I dont have money what can I do…” well helping isn’t just about donating money. Giving your time is just as important and impactful and I’m sure most of us have a little bit of that we cab share. I mean scrolling on your phone for hours a day, or missing the football or the next 1 or 2 Netflix episodes every once in a while isn’t going to kill us. People forget that just showing up and giving your time are all amazing ways to make a difference and sometimes even help more than just giving these companies money.

I mean think about it… if you’re doing well in life you could share your wisdom and become a mentor to a young person (or even another adult) who needs guidance (THIS is something we definitely need in the UK with all of this youth violence and knife crime etc.), offer your skills to help someone (could be as basic as IT skills), or even just taking the time to have a chat with someone who may be suffering with severe loneliness and making their day – there are sooo many out of the box ways we can help each other. Things that financially cost nothing to us… but can mean everything to someone who needs it. And you never know, with the instability and craziness of life – one day that person on the receiving end that needs help could even be you.

So, if any of these causes on my charities and causes page resonate with you (after you read what they’re about and actually click on the links – please and thank you) PLEASE help me promote and share their mission, and see how you can help (and let me know too if notice anything interesting) because we all have the power to make the world a little better – one small act at a time <3 …CHEESY. BUT TRUE!

And thats the end of my TED Talk… Goodnight
