OMG! Did You Know… Insights, Hacks and Ideas For A Better Life!
~ A Lifestyle Blog by Ayshia Armani
A Space for Knowledge, Growth & Connection
Hey you… Welcome! Firstly, thanks for taking the time to visit my website and check out my new blog. If you’re reading this, you’re probably someone who enjoys learning, finding out about new things, discovering new perspectives, or just simply wants to stay informed about a variety of topics and what’s going on in the world. Either that or you follow me online already and thought what’s this new blog (OMG! Did You Know…) that she keeps posting everywhere and going on about! HAHA. Well, whatever brought you here, I’m so glad you made it over. Right, so whats this really all about, why have I started this blog and is it worth you even reading and coming back again? Well the answer to that last question is definitely a big fat YES but let me get into what you can expect.
OMG! Did You Know… Why This Blog?
Over the years, I’ve found myself diving deep into a wide range of topics—from beauty and skin care (that lead me on the journey to being an Aesthetic Nurse) and hair care to finance & investing, DIY tech repairs (I will brag about fixing my own Macbook until I die! lol), greek philosophic practices such as stoicism for greater mental health, fitness, activism and sooo much more. Then aggressively trying to tell all of my family, friends and anyone I come across (even on the tube! ha) about all this amazing stuff I’ve learned and rambling away.
I’ve always been a person that is the opposite of what you would call a “gatekeeper” of knowledge which I think would be a teacher right? lol but more so in the last few months I’ve really realised that all the things I’ve been researching (I’m known as the “researcher” to some) I’m immediately so excited to and eager to share my findings with others, especially things that I wish I had known before or that were a shock but an important shock that I thought everyone needed to know. But recently I’ve realised that talking to one million people everyday to spread the word about the one million topics I’ve researched just isn’t plausible… so how and where do I do this?
Social media only felt too annoying as I’ve been increasingly moving away from social media as in the last couple of years (due to so much toxicity, negative impacts on mental health and fakery that’s plagued the once positive platforms), and videos like uploading on YouTube which I will 100% be doing I think were a fantastic choice. But being a writer, and someone who likes to not only read but also give detailed informartion, I wanted a space that I could add all the extras, especially all the extra bits I might forget to say in videos or social content and that’s when the idea of this blog was born!
Typical me would spend one million years trying to plan everything and make things perfect (the perfectionist curse) before even starting this but this time around I thought of the ideas I’ve come across in a lot of the self improvement books and content I consume; and the phrase I created for myself when I’m basically in a perfectionist loop to just “Get it done”. So yep, I literally decided on this blog a few days ago and here it is! Woop!
The blog section of this website, “OMG! Did You Know” is a place where I can document everything I’ve learned, create learning resources for others, and hopefully spark conversations that inspire and empower people to make improvements to their own lives and hopefully made “Adulting” and day to day life that little bit easier. Whether you’re learning how to navigate investing and ISA’s, trying to do some at home or tech DIY to save some coins, want some advice on skin and haircare products and procedures thats not just going to be a sales pitch but breaking it down with clinical data and evidence-based expert advice – my goal is to make this space as helpful, transparent, easy to understand and as fun as possible.
There are so many things I’ve had to learn myself which I mean is fine – but that a lot of people have the beauty of knowing whether that be from in the know family, friends, or just their environment so I want to do my best to help others be in the know also. I mean if we (us ordinary people) don’t help each other… then WHO will help us after all?!
I have SOOOO many ideas for content and YES they are going to be random, varied and the good thing about that is that there will be something for everyone. However, you may be like… is this girl okay? And the answer is NO… but I’m fine with it! At least I will never in my life be boring and as a result neither will this blog and all the random but helpful and interesting stuff I plan to share with you on here, YouTube and across my social media platforms!
So what sort of content can you expect?
Here are just a few of the topics I’ll be diving into on the blog as a random guide and some of the things that I’ve been looking into recently but oh believe me… who knows what I’ll be looking into next. Don’t be surprised if you see a post about Kim Jong Un and North Korea and me trying to get an interview because I want to ask him whats the tea… what’s really going on with you and your dictatorship, is it really a dictatorship… WE THE PEOPLE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW! Anyway, sorry back on topic. So the blog:
- Investing & Financial Literacy: Whether you’re new to investing or looking for tips to diversify & grow your portfolio, I’ll share insights I pick up along the way, along with easy-to-follow guides and examples from my own portfolio (ooh and maybe even some interviews with experts too). That Kim Jong Un outburst above gave me a great idea! HA. I kind of do miss my presenting/interviewing days anyway.
- Beauty, Hair Care & Skin Care: What the clinical data behind these products really means and if they really work the way they say they do, product reviews, tips and recommends from a qualified Aesthetic Practitioner of 5+ years and soon to be Aesthetic & Dermatology Nurse. I will also be sharing my own personal hair growth journey and experiences with managing the nightmare condition that is psoriasis!
- DIY Tech Repairs: Ever wondered if you could fix your own gadgets? I’ll show you how I’ve managed to tackle tech issues without breaking the bank. I am no engineer by any means but I recently repaired my own MacBook after water damage (I literally took it apart and repaired some internal boards and the entire screen) and saved myself £2000 ($2,496.90). Screw you Apple and your referral companies for data extraction charging unjust and outrageous prices for basic tech repair.
- Health & Wellness: From maintaining balance in life, the power of diet and lifestyle, managing chronic health conditions such as psoriasis, and maintaining positive mental health to Greek philosophical practices like Stoicism, and learning how to advocate for yourself in healthcare by doing your own research and knowing your rights... I’ll share resources, tips, and personal experiences to help others that want to try and improve their overall health and wellness.
- Politics & Activism: Exploring important social issues, current affairs, staying informed on what’s happening in the world and how it affects you (whether you realise it or not!), and finding ways to make a difference in your community and positive change.
- Being a Student Nurse & University Student Tips: I knew going back to study after 10+ years as a student for another undergraduate degree wasn’t going to be easy, but doing a healthcare degree is NOT for the faint of heart and totally not the same as standard degrees and boy did I get a reality check! So with that in mind I want to share tips that have helped me for essays, studying and advice for navigating life as a nursing student especially as a “mature student” with a lot of adulting responsibilities (no offence 18-21 year olds, it’s just different!).
- Mela Nurse Clinic: A behind-the-scenes look at my skin, aesthetics and cosmetic dermatology business – the journey of building a brand, connecting with clients, and offering services that make a difference. I will also be going into the science behind the treatments I offer and how they actually work and not just a cash-grabbing sales pitch or advertising that the beauty and aesthetic industry has become (especially in the UK) with everyone and their Grandma becoming an “Aesthetics Practitioner (I HATE that “s” at the end, its AesthetiC!) just for the money and not for the love of the craft and actually helping people and providing a safe and trustworthy treatment that actually does what it’s meant to. I will also be giving tips and advice on how to transition from a beauty therapist to aesthetic practitioner/therapist to Aesthetic Nurse from applying to university and writing personal statements to getting key work experience in Dermatology and getting a grasp of writing and studying at academic level!
Why Now?
I’ve reached a point in my life where I feel ready to share. While I’ve always loved learning and growing, I’ve also struggled sometimes with self-doubt and the fear of putting myself out there – which is extremely irrational I know considering I used to work in the media and it was literally my job to put myself out there – especially online! But recently I’ve realised that sharing my journey isn’t just about me – it’s about helping others. If even one post inspires someone to take control of their life whether it be getting their finances in order or going to the gym for the first time, or trying some self help practices to improve their mental health – or even tackle a tech repair they thought was beyond them (I know I’ve mentioned this 3x in this post already), then this blog will have done its job.
Plus I have realised in the last year or two I really do miss all of the media and creative work I used to do with my previous blogging, presenting and hosting etc. So switching from music & entertainment (which I lost a passion for) and combining it with this new career I’ve forged in beauty, aesthetics and healthcare – is a way for me to continue doing what I love again and putting my expensive Journalism degree to somewhat use considering I’m still paying if off! haha but no seriously I have missed writing, creating content and being creative and that combined with getting the change to talk peoples head’s off whether in text or in video… how could I say no!
Join Me on This Journey
I’m really excited about what this blog can become, and I hope you are too! Whether you’re a regular reader, watcher (I’ll be doing YouTube content & Patreon too) or just popping by every now and then when you remember or you see me post something interest on Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook or BlueSky (Yes I’m still begrudgingly using Twitter X until everyone moves over to Blue Sky hopefully!) I hope you find something here that resonates with you and helps improve your life in some way.
Feel free to comment, share your thoughts, or suggest topics you’d like me to cover – this blog is as much yours as it is mine and I’m always down for a bit of cheeky research.
Thank you again for stopping by, and I can’t wait to grow this blog so we can all learn together!
FYI – I know this post was SUPER LONG… truly. I’m looking at it like… wow okay, so I can actually type as much as I talk?! LOL But we all have the attention spans of mice now due to social media – so take it as a public service
that me and my blog posts are helping to increase your attention strengthening those juicy neural pathways!
